Description of Project

The project aims to build capacity in waste sorting for the community, and has three specific objectives as follows:

• Provide a comprehensive situation of solid waste disposal in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward

• Establishment of Ecological Solid Waste Management Team within Hoa Hiep Nam Ward

• Establishment and operation of the Material Recover Facility (MRF)

To achieve the target objectives, the project is examined to be divided into 3 main stages in line with the development process and a systematic approach within the area, as follows:

Phase 1: Establishment of the Hoa Hiep Nam Ward’s green profile, including activities: (i) Baseline Research on the current status of MSW management in the study site; (ii) Establishment of the Hoa Hiep Nam Ward’s green profile; (iii) Multi-Sectoral Training and Consultation

Phase 2: Develop the communication strategy and build the capacity of message conveyance for the core team 

Phase 3: Based on the need for waste generation, the print of the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) was proposed and approved. The facility played a critical role in enhancing the waste segregation at the source and the rate of recycling waste in the study site
